Logistics Coordinator

SUMMARY:

The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for providing technical support, information, and system updates for all receiving and shipping functions, as well as providing timely tracking, arranging shipments by verifying orders, checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating delivery requirements, placing/expediting orders based on destination, route, rate, and delivery time, and scheduling carriers based on LTL and FTL.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine method of shipment and prepare shipping documents (quotes, bills of lading, pick tickets, order confirmations) and track orders to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Organize orders by editing for price and weight compliance and verify items shipped by matching bills of lading, reconciling quantities, and noting discrepancies.
  • Process all in and outbound shipments and audit each shipment prior to packing to ensure that goods match order.
  • Inspect and verify all incoming freight for damages, accuracy against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods, and follow-up with purchasing to resolve any damaged freight issues.
  • Keep Customer Care informed by forwarding notice of item availability, shipment date, method, status, answering questions, and tracing missing shipments.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing packages in the warehouse, prepare shipping and receiving documentation, process all receiving transactions and paperwork, maintain orderly files for all documentation.
  • Handle UPS shipments, receive merchandise – check and sign delivery slips.
  • Track inventory, keep accurate records, pack and weigh items, print shipping labels and postage, inspect goods received for damage, distribute products to other departments.
  • Ensure shipping methods comply with rules, regulations, and laws. Organize distribution and shipping of merchandise. Make necessary verifications against documents.
  • Contact transport companies and suppliers to expedite, trace, or return merchandise that does not conform to specifications or purchase orders.
  • Provide timely information regarding orders, traffic, inclement weather, etc.
  • Assist in maintaining safety and housekeeping standards in shipping area.
  • Perform required administrative tasks; prepare all required reports and correspondence.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work within a team and individually.
  • Able to make decisions independently under time pressure.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, self-starter.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, demonstrate flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills – ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/GED and two years’ experience in Logistics/Warehousing.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge and proficiency of MS Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Competent using ERP software - NetSuite experience a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to stand and walk in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to sit at desk and work on PC.
  • Ability to bend, crouch and lift items to 50 pounds.

Hourly rate: $18.00/hr. - $22.00/hr. (DOE)
